Market action

A concise summary of the latest filing, transaction, or market-moving item.

Constellation Energy Corp. reported that all of its power plants located in the PJM Interconnection market cleared PJM’s capacity auction for the 2028-2029 planning year. The company learned the auction results on July 14, 2026, and disclosed them in an Item 8.01 “Other Events” Form 8-K the same day. The auction results take effect on June 1, 2028. The filing is significant because PJM capacity auctions determine payments to generators for committing resources to be available to meet future grid reliability needs. For Constellation, those payments are especially relevant because capacity revenues for its nuclear units are included in the gross receipts calculation for the federal Production Tax Credit. Constellation disclosed total cleared capacity volumes of 18,875 megawatts at ownership, excluding generation assets that are held for sale. The PJM portfolio total consisted of 15,700 megawatts of nuclear capacity and 3,175 megawatts of fossil and other capacity. By zone, Constellation reported 10,200 megawatts cleared in COMED, made up of 9,800 megawatts of nuclear capacity and 400 megawatts of fossil/other capacity. The table also listed a Capacity Performance price of 325 for COMED. In EMAAC, the company cleared 6,550 megawatts, consisting of 4,325 megawatts of nuclear capacity and 2,225 megawatts of fossil/other capacity. In MAAC, Constellation cleared 1,725 megawatts, including 1,575 megawatts of nuclear capacity and 150 megawatts of fossil/other capacity. The filing also listed 375 megawatts in BGE. The report was furnished jointly by Constellation Energy Corporation and Constellation Energy Generation, LLC, with each registrant providing information on its own behalf. Constellation included standard forward-looking statement cautions, noting that actual results could differ due to risks discussed in its annual and quarterly filings. The filing was signed July 14, 2026, by Shane P. Smith, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Constellation Energy Corporation.
