About the company

CarMax Inc.

CarMax, Inc. is a used vehicle retailer based in the United States. It operates two business segments: CarMax Sales Operations and CarMax Auto Finance. The company began as a side business of Circuit City Corporation, Inc., opening its first location in September 1993 in Richmond, Virginia. While CarMax stores focus on marketing used vehicles, the company acquired its first new car franchise with Chrysler Corporation in 1996. Market action

A concise summary of the latest filing, transaction, or market-moving item.

CarMax Inc. disclosed a Form 4 insider ownership report for James Francis Kessler tied to activity dated June 26, 2026, involving the company’s common stock. The filing was submitted on June 29, 2026, and was signed on Kessler’s behalf by Christine Carter as attorney-in-fact. The document indicates that Kessler reported an ownership change in CarMax common stock, but the available filing text does not include the transaction table that would normally specify the nature of the action. As a result, key details such as the transaction code, number of shares acquired or disposed of, transaction price, whether the securities were held directly or indirectly, and Kessler’s beneficial ownership after the transaction are not provided in the text supplied. Because Form 4 filings are used to report insider transactions and certain changes in beneficial ownership by officers, directors, or other reporting persons, the filing is notable as an insider-ownership disclosure for CarMax. However, without the missing transaction-line details, the filing does not make clear whether the June 26 event was an open-market purchase or sale, an option exercise, a grant, a vesting-related acquisition, a tax-withholding disposition, or another reportable change. The only concrete information available is that the reported security was CarMax common stock, the reporting person was James Francis Kessler, the transaction date associated with the ownership change was June 26, 2026, and the filing was executed June 29, 2026, by attorney-in-fact Christine Carter.
