The Coca-Cola Company reported on July 16, 2026, that fairlife, LLC, its owned dairy business, identified unauthorized third-party access to a portion of fairlife’s systems in connection with a ransomware event. The disclosure was made under Form 8-K Item 8.01, “Other Events,” rather than as an insider trading or securities issuance report. According to the company, the affected systems included production-related systems. After detecting the incident, Coca-Cola said it activated incident response and business continuity protocols and began an investigation with assistance from outside advisors and cybersecurity experts. The company also notified law enforcement. Coca-Cola said product quality and safety have not been impacted. However, the ransomware incident has temporarily suspended fairlife’s production operations in the United States. The company noted that fairlife’s Canadian production operations are not currently affected. The company said it is working to complete its investigation, restore systems, and resume impacted operations. At the time of the filing, Coca-Cola said the full scope, nature, and effects of the incident were not yet known, and it had not determined whether the ransomware event is reasonably likely to materially affect the company. The filing was signed on July 16, 2026, by Monica Howard Douglas, Coca-Cola’s Executive Vice President and Global General Counsel. The report does not describe any stock transaction, insider purchase or sale, securities issuance, option grant, or change in ownership; its significance lies in Coca-Cola’s public disclosure of a cybersecurity incident affecting a production-related subsidiary operation.

About the company
Coca-Cola Company
The Coca-Cola Company is an American multinational corporation founded in January 1892, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. It manufactures, sells and markets soft drinks including Coca-Cola, other non-alcoholic beverage concentrates and syrups, and alcoholic beverages. Its stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and is a component of the DJIA and the S&P 500 and S&P 100 indices. Coca-Cola was developed in May 1886 by pharmacist John Stith Pemberton. At the time it was introduced, the product contained the stimulants cocaine from coca leaves and caffeine from kola nuts, which together acted synergistically. The coca and the kola are the source of the product name and led to Coca-Cola's promotion as a "healthy tonic". Pemberton had been severely wounded in the American Civil War and had become addicted to the pain medication morphine. At the time, cocaine was being promoted as a "cure" for opioid addiction, so he developed the beverage as a patent medicine in an effort to control his addiction. In 1889, the formula and brand were sold for $2,300 to Asa Griggs Candler, who incorporated the Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta in 1892.
