Can I open a new bank account using a specific residence card?

New-format residence cards, special permanent resident certificates, and My Number card-integrated specific residence cards and specific special permanent resident certificates issued on or after June 14, 2026, cannot be used as identity verification documents for new account opening procedures via our app for the time being. We plan to update our system around September 2026. Please apply through the app after the system update is complete.

Where can I open an account?

Accepted Answer

You can open an account through the Woodstock app. Please follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the account opening process. A My Number Card is required to open an account. If you have added your My Number Card data to Apple Wallet, you can use that data to open an account (foreign nationals and those whose My Number Card name includes Roman letters should use other account opening methods).

I don't know my login ID or password.

Accepted Answer

The Woodstock app requires you to log in using your email address.

An authentication code will be sent to the email address you registered. Please enter the code to log in. If you do not receive the email, please check your spam folder.

Furthermore, with the introduction of passkeys, passkey authentication will be required when logging in.

Can I open an account without using the app?

Accepted Answer

If you wish to trade using the Woodstock app, you will need to open an account with AlpacaJapan Co., Ltd. through the Woodstock app.
