About the company

Cisco Systems, Inc.

Cisco Systems, Inc., doing business as Cisco, is an American multinational technology conglomerate corporation that develops, manufactures, and sells hardware, software, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology services and products focused on networking, cyber security and AI. Cisco specializes in specific tech markets, such as the Internet of things, domain security, videoconferencing, and energy management, including products such as Webex, OpenDNS, Jabber, and Jasper. The company is headquartered in San Jose, California, and, as of June 29, 2026, has a market capitalization of $461 billion. Cisco Systems was founded in December 1984 by Leonard Bosack and Sandy Lerner, two Stanford University computer scientists. They pioneered the concept of a local area network being used to connect distant computers over a multiprotocol router system. The company went public in 1990 and, by the end of the dot-com bubble in 2000, had a market capitalization of $500 billion, surpassing Microsoft as the world's most valuable company, prior to losing 80 percent of its value by 2002, as the market bubble burst.

Market action

A concise summary of the latest filing, transaction, or market-moving item.

Cisco Systems insider Oliver Tuszik reported a change in beneficial ownership of Cisco common stock tied to the partial settlement of a restricted stock unit award on July 10, 2026. The Form 4 was filed on July 13, 2026, and signed on Tuszik’s behalf by Jeremy Erickson as attorney-in-fact. The reported action involved shares of Cisco Systems, Inc. common stock that were withheld to satisfy tax obligations arising from the vesting or partial settlement of restricted stock units. The filing’s explanatory note states that the RSU award was originally disclosed by Tuszik in a Form 3 filed on May 6, 2025. This type of transaction generally reflects mandatory tax withholding connected to equity compensation, rather than an open-market sale initiated for investment reasons. The filing also notes that Tuszik’s reported holdings include 1,417.436 dividend equivalents accrued on unvested restricted stock units. Each dividend equivalent is described as the economic equivalent of one share of Cisco common stock, meaning those units track the value of Cisco shares but are tied to still-unvested equity awards. The provided filing text does not disclose the number of shares withheld, the transaction price, the transaction code, or Tuszik’s beneficial ownership total after the transaction. The key takeaway is that the ownership change relates to equity-compensation administration—specifically tax withholding on RSU settlement—and not a reported discretionary purchase or sale of Cisco shares in the open market.
