Market action

A concise summary of the latest filing, transaction, or market-moving item.

Equifax Inc. reported stronger second-quarter revenue and continued capital returns to shareholders in its quarterly report for the period ended June 30, 2026, with the most specific recent corporate actions involving common-stock repurchases and a higher cash dividend. The company said its Board of Directors had approved a new share repurchase authorization on April 21, 2025, replacing the prior authorization and allowing Equifax to buy back up to $3.0 billion of its common stock. Under that program, Equifax repurchased 1,763,013 shares of common stock in the open market during the second quarter of 2026 for $300.0 million, excluding $2.9 million of brokerage commissions and excise taxes. That implies an average purchase price of about $170.16 per share before those additional costs. For the first six months of 2026, Equifax repurchased 3,107,628 shares for $560.0 million, excluding $5.0 million of brokerage commissions and excise taxes, or an average of roughly $180.20 per share before those costs. By comparison, during the first six months of 2025 the company repurchased 479,506 shares for $127.4 million, excluding $0.7 million of brokerage commissions and excise taxes, all of which occurred in the second quarter of 2025. As of June 30, 2026, Equifax still had approximately $1.5 billion available under the buyback authorization. Equifax also disclosed that on February 25, 2026, its Board approved an increase in the company’s quarterly cash dividend to $0.56 per share beginning in the first quarter of 2026. During the first six months of 2026, Equifax paid $133.5 million in dividends to shareholders, equal to $1.12 per share. The filing does not report insider purchases or sales, transaction codes, vesting events or individual officer/director ownership changes; the actions described are corporate capital-allocation actions involving Equifax common stock. The capital returns came as Equifax reported second-quarter operating revenue of $1.700 billion, up from $1.537 billion in the same quarter of 2025, an increase of about 11%. Operating income was $314.2 million, compared with $310.8 million a year earlier, while operating margin declined to 18.5% from 20.2%. Net income attributable to Equifax was reported at $183.9 million, compared with $191.3 million in the prior-year quarter, and diluted earnings per share were $1.54, up slightly from $1.53. For the six months ended June 30, 2026, operating revenue rose to $3.349 billion from $2.979 billion in the first half of 2025, an increase of about 12%. Operating income increased to $601.9 million from $546.7 million, while operating margin slipped to 18.0% from 18.4%. Net income attributable to Equifax rose to $355.4 million from $324.3 million, and diluted EPS increased to $2.96 from $2.59. Revenue growth was broad-based across the company’s three reportable segments. Workforce Solutions generated second-quarter revenue of $705.4 million, up from $662.1 million, and first-half revenue of $1.389 billion, up from $1.281 billion. U.S. Information Solutions revenue increased to $611.6 million in the quarter from $521.5 million and to $1.217 billion for the six-month period from $1.021 billion. International revenue rose to $383.1 million from $353.4 million in the quarter and to $743.3 million from $677.0 million for the first half. Equifax noted that its outlook remains tied to macroeconomic conditions, including inflation, interest rates, consumer credit activity, hiring and mortgage-market activity. The company’s 2026 planning assumes U.S. GDP growth broadly consistent with 2025, slightly lower U.S. mortgage origination activity than in 2025, and generally slower international GDP growth than the prior year. The filing matters because it shows Equifax continuing to return capital through dividends.
